This old restaurant is hard to find, but worth the effort.  It’s just outside the Jama Masjid, and isn’t afraid to add ladles of ghee to their preparations.

I ordered Bheja Masala (brain curry, up front in the photo) and Badam Pasanda (almond and goat scallopine in a differently spiced curry.)   Often, in Portland, a lot of the sauces on dishes taste the same.  Not here, these two dishes couldn’t have been more different.

The bheja is decadently rich, with a texture somewhere between scrambled eggs and butter, and the sauce with lots of fresh cilantro helped lighten the dish a bit.  The badam pasanda was sharper and more piquant.  Those tandoori rotis you see in the background were just perfect.
